Preservation Orchard and Farm Collaborative -
Seasonal, part time position available for 2025
Preservation Orchard and Farm Collaborative, sited in North Hadley on one of the most beautiful hillsides in the region, is made up of three core businesses: Carr’s Ciderhouse (founded in 2012 by Jonathan Carr and Nicole Blum), Meadowfed Lamb (operated by Rachel Haas and Matt “Gnarly Pippins” Kaminsky), and Preservation Farm, a no-till vegetable growing operation run by Ava Blum-Carr and Joe Manning.
Our Collaborative farms with regenerative, non-chemical practices with an emphasis on building soil fertility and resilience in uncertain climate patterns. The official employer of record will be Carr’s Ciderhouse, but job duties will be carried out either for the Collaborative in general, or specific businesses therein.
Carr’s is seeking help with preparation for opening their weekend-only Cider Garden. Duties will include general cleaning, washing, organizing, stocking farm stand, light landscaping, labeling, and bottling. Additional farm duties may include crop harvesting (berries, nuts, fruit) as well as orchard maintenance. The ability to operate mowers, blowers, weed whackers, and other small machinery is a plus.
Meadowfed Lamb is seeking help with assorted field work, pasture chores, and periodic market help. Primary duties will include electronet prep and handling (fence setup, takedown, & scythe line mowing), pasture rotations for broiler chickens. Additional duties may include harvesting blueberries, occasional farmer’s market staffing, hay stacking, harvesting natural dye plant material,. The ideal candidate enjoys working around livestock and working dogs, has the ability to lift 50 pounds, valid driver's license, ability to operate or learn to operate a scythe/string trimmer, & is comfortable/willing to work around poison ivy.
Compensation: $18-$20 per hour, based on experience.
Season: May 15 to November 15
30 hours per week, to split between:
A. Carr’s Ciderhouse - Fri, Sat, Sun 9am-12pm, plus one afternoon TBD, 15 hours total
B. Meadowfed Lamb - 15 hours total, schedule TBD upon acceptance of application.
C. Preservation Farm - possibly a little harvesting / market help at times
